Physical Education
At Littleton, we recognise the importance of PE and the role it has to play in promoting long term, healthy lifestyles.
By the end of Year 2, an active Littleton learner will have mastered the basics of movement and dance. They will feel competent and confident to approach competition with themselves and others with a growth mind set whilst developing an understanding for values such as respect and fairness. Our PE Curriculum, along with PSHE and science, teaches children about the importance of healthy living and learning about the need for good nutrition.
Our Littleton Explorers Nursery prepares our children for the PE curriculum by explicitly planning to address the Physical Development statements in the Birth to 5 Matters guidance. Our EYFS environment promotes learning that develops both children’s fine and gross motor skills. Both gross motor skills and fine motor skills are needed for children to engage in creative activities such as dance and art. They are also important for health, as children need to move to be active.
At Littleton, we want to ensure all children leave us with an understanding of the importance of caring for themselves and their well- being and mental health through exercise, mindfulness and connecting with the outdoors and other people.
