Collective Worship
The Heartbeat of Our School
Collective worship forms the unique heartbeat of Littleton C of E Nursery and Infant School. It offers pupils and adults alike a wider opportunity to encounter faith by engaging in meaningful conversations about God. Through our varied worship experiences, we create a nurturing environment where children can explore spirituality, develop their understanding of Christian values, and celebrate their God-given talents.
Our Worship Journey: Learn, Reflect, Respond
At Littleton C of E Nursery and Infant School, worship is a journey where we Learn, Reflect and Respond together. Each worship experience is thoughtfully crafted to engage children's hearts and minds, inviting them into a deeper understanding of faith and its application in daily life.
Types of Worship
Singing Worship
We come together to lift our voices in songs of praise, creating a joyful atmosphere where children can express their faith through music. These sessions help children learn traditional and contemporary worship songs that reinforce Christian values and teachings.
Out of the Box Worship
At Littleton we use Out of the Box Worship to deepen our children’s understanding of The Trinity (God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit). The children actively participate in the worship by opening the box and taking out the cross, the Bible and lighting the worship candle. Our Out of the Box worship sessions make faith accessible and engaging for young minds. Based firmly on Christian values, these worship sessions help children develop positive character traits such as kindness, respect, perseverance, and compassion. Through stories, discussions, and practical activities. This worship helps our children to reflect on how the Bible’s teachings can be relevant to everyday life.
Class Worship
Each class participates in their own special worship time, allowing for more intimate discussions and reflections tailored to the children's age and understanding. These sessions create a safe space for questions and personal responses to faith.
Family Worship
We warmly welcome our wider community to participate in acts of school worship together weekly. These special occasions strengthen the bond between school, home and church, as families join in celebrating our shared values and faith journey.
Reflection Worship
These special times are dedicated to celebrating the unique talents that God has given each of us. Children are encouraged to recognise their own gifts and appreciate the diverse abilities of others, fostering a culture of gratitude and mutual respect. It enriches our children’s understanding of our Christian vision around developing resilience, a strong sense of self and ensuring that they leave Littleton able to contribute to life in all its fullness.
As well as the above worships, we also follow the varied liturgical and other traditions of Anglican worship and festivals.
Our Commitment
Through our collective worship programme, we aim to nurture children's spiritual development whilst respecting the diverse backgrounds of our school community. Every child is valued as a unique individual created in God's image, and our worship experiences help them to understand their place in God's world and their responsibility towards others.
